Role Overview:
An established construction materials company is seeking a Technical Support Manager to provide technical support before and after sales, collaborate with product managers, sales teams, and quality control, and ensure technical excellence across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support and guidance to sales staff, customers, applicators, and technicians.
Conduct technical trainings and CPD presentations for architects and engineers.
Maintain, update, and integrate technical documentation for products and application systems.
Draft and review specifications, method statements, and guarantees; ensure compliance before client issuance. Oversee implementation of guarantees, QA/QC processes, and specifications on projects.
Collaborate with R&D to improve existing product formulations and develop new products. Work with Quality Management to manage claims in line with internal and corporate procedures. Attend meetings with regulatory authorities to stay updated on laws and market regulations.
Manage and develop the Technical Assistance team in collaboration with HR.
Report periodically to management and headquarters; liaise with corporate technical services for guidance. Perform and report site investigations, technical issues, and customer complaints.
Support marketing initiatives with project/site references and provide technical input at expos and seminars. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures in all technical activities.
Requirements:
NQF Level 7 or higher in Civil Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction materials.
At least 3 years in a management role.
Intermediate AutoCAD skills advantageous.
Excellent problem-solving, judgement, and decision-making skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking abilities.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and ability to operate at a senior level. -
