Job Purpose The Technical Specifications Manager will provide expert technical support before and after sales, ensuring seamless collaboration between Product Managers, the Sales team, and Quality Control.
The role includes preparing and approving technical documentation, specifications, and guarantees, and overseeing their implementation on projects.
This position also manages the Technical Assistance Team, ensuring technical excellence across the business.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide technical support before and after sales in close collaboration with Product Managers, Sales, and Quality Control.
Deliver technical training to Sales staff, Product Managers, customers, applicators, and technicians as required.
Conduct CPD presentations for Architects and Engineers. Ensure continuous technical updates and improvements by editing and integrating technical documentation.
Draw and draft specifications, method statements, and technical details in consultation with Product Managers.
Sign off on specifications, method statements, guarantees before issuing to clients, ensuring correct application systems are assigned to each job.
Oversee implementation of guarantees, QA/QC, and specifications.
Collaborate with R&D to improve existing product formulations and develop new products to meet market needs.
Work with Quality Management to manage claims in line with corporate procedures and process guarantees accordingly.
Participate in meetings with construction regulation authorities to stay updated on laws and regulations affecting the market. Manage, supervise, and develop the Technical Assistance Team in collaboration with HR.
Provide regular reporting to management and HQ on technical updates and changes.
Liaise with the Corporate Technical Services Department to ensure alignment with global guidelines. Communicate technical information effectively to Sales staff and customers.
Conduct and report on site investigations and customer complaints, identifying issues and specifications.
Collaborate with Marketing on project/site references and provide technical support at expos and seminars.
Follow and implement corporate policies and procedures.
Requirements Education:
NQF Level 7 or higher in Civil Engineering or a related qualification.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction materials.
Minimum 3 years in a management role.
Skills:
AutoCAD – Intermediate proficiency advantageous.
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, R&D, and Quality Control
